- ---- Ring Router v2.0 for DOS ----
- DOCUMENTATION FILE
- ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
- IF YOU ARE USING DISTINCTIVE RING PLEASE READ THIS FILE!
- ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
-
-
- 1. Basic commands in the Ring Router (RING.EXE) program.
-
- ESC : This command will escape from the Ring Router program.
- ALT-C: This command will clear the modem window of all current
- test, such as the modem initialization string and the
- rings that have been received.
- ALT-H: This command will bring up the help menu with a basic
- command list.
- ALT-J: This command will load a DOS shell. This method is not
- recommended for programs that require large amounts of
- conventional memory due to the fact that the Ring Router
- will not attempt to swap to disk.
- ALT-L: This command will enable a keyboard lock so that nobody
- will be able to disturb the proper functioning of the Ring
- Router. It also works GREAT to keep cats from ending the
- program when they decide to walk on the keyboard!;)
- ALT-Z: This command will tell the Ring Router to exit as it would
- if it had detected the type of ring you chose for it to exit
- on. This is a handy way to test out your batch files without
- having to wait for someone to call your computer.
-
-
- 2. Options for the Ring Router configuration (RINGCFG.EXE) program.
-
- System > Info
- In this section, you should fill in the system operators
- name, the bulletin board name, and a destination for your
- log file.
-
- System > ErrorLevels
- This section is where you will enter the errorlevels you
- would like to set for three different actions, a normal exit
- (ESC key pressed), a desired type of ring received, or a fatal
- error.
-
- System > Display
- A screen saver may be set if one is desired.. It will
- comprise of a simple blanking out of the screen when the set
- time of inactivity has been reached. The modem status window
- may also be cleared at a specific interval (Operates the same
- as pressing ALT-C).
-
- System > Events
- Currently up to four events may be set up at a specified time
- to exit with the specified errorlevel so that you may schedule
- maintanence tasks to be completed.
-
- Modem > General
- Two communications ports are currently supported, choose the
- one that matches your modem. The speed setting should work
- fine with most modems when it is set at 2400. If you have a
- faster modem, don't worry becuase it won't permanently change
- your modem speed. The last setting is the modem
- initialization string setting. Your modem will be reset using
- this string.
-
- <*> The ENABLE DISTINCTIVE RING setting is VERY important if you
- want to allow the program to ONLY answer distinctive
- (selective) rings when it receives them. If this box is
- unchecked then the program will answer ONLY those rings that
- are NOT distinctive (selective) rings.
-
- Help > About
- Description of the current version number and copyright
- information of the program.
-
-
- 3. Incompatible modems.
-
- The only modems known to be incompatible with this software
- are those manufactured by Zoltrix. To do a simple test that may
- tell you if your modem is also affected by this incompatibility
- problem, type the following at your DOS prompt: "ECHO AT > COM1".
- Replacing COM1 with the communications port of your modem. If it
- gives you an error then your modem will probably not work properly
- with this software.
- If you own a modem other than a Zoltrix and your modem does not
- function properly then please notify me of this.;)
